This concentration, which may be completed completely online, is designed to prepare a student for the leadership role of being a building principal as well as an athletic director. Students who complete this concentration with EDLD 6793 and EDLD 6794 can be recommended to receive, from the state of Michigan, the Administrator Certificate with the Elementary/Secondary Administrator K-12 Building Endorsement.
PROGRAM COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Leadership Core (Unless otherwise noted, all courses are three credit hours) EDLD 6020: Educational Leadership, Systems and Change or HPHE 6600: Governance and Administration of Sport EDLD 6300: Data-Informed Decision-Making, Research and Evaluation EDLD 6791: Educational Leadership Masters Seminar (1 credit) EDLD 6793: Principal Internship I or HPHE 7120: Professional Field Experience EDLD 6794: Principal Internship II or HPHE 7120: Professional Field Experience (2 credits) Total: 12 credits
Principal Specialty Core (Unless otherwise noted, all courses are three credit hours) EDLD 6610: School Law & Ethics EDLD 6620: School Business Management EDLD 6640: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Leadership EDLD 6670: The Principalship EDLD 6730: Instructional Leadership and Supervision EDLD 6740: School Community Relations and Cultural Competence Total: 18 credits
Interscholastic Athletic Administration Core (Unless otherwise noted, all courses are three credit hours) HPHE 6640 - Marketing and Sales in Sport HPHE 6690 - Planning and Management of Sport Facilities & Events HPHE 6630 - Ethics in Sport Total: 9 credits
