The Master of Science in manufacturing engineering is designed to provide advanced competencies in the areas of computer-aided manufacturing, computer-aided design and analysis, and integrated processing of polymers, metals and composite materials. This program is designed for decision-makers in manufacturing engineering, engineering graphics and design, process engineering, quality assurance and tooling design.
Western Michigan University’s Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering (M.S.) is designed to provide advanced competencies in the areas of computer-aided manufacturing, computer-aided design and analysis, and integrated processing of polymers, metals and composite materials.
Decision-makers in manufacturing engineering, engineering graphics and design, process engineering, quality assurance and tooling design would benefit from this degree. Program objectives include:
? Plan, design, analyze, implement and improve cost effective manufacturing methods ? Understand and use technology to control and monitor processes and systems to solve production problems ? Manage projects, people and resources ? Communicate professionally in written, oral, visual and electronic forms ? Pursue professional growth and function effectively in work environments ? Study the areas of engineering, technical resource management and industrial leadership
The specific career path objectives of the individual may be met by focusing the electives and optional thesis or project. The master’s degree candidate will work with their academic advisor to tailor all elective coursework.
Current faculty research areas include:
? Dimensional metrology ? Engineering management and human performance ? Fabrication and assembly ? Integrated design ? Metal casting ? Plastics processing ? Process evaluation
A working engineer can complete this program in three years while maintaining full-time employment, and courses can be completed in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.

A minimum score of 6.5 is required.Pearson Test of English Academic Module. A minimum score of 53 is required.
