在這里學什么?
Western Michigan University has pioneered an innovative undergraduate degree program in geochemistry—one of the first of its kind in the nation. If you decide to enroll in this cutting-edge program, you will gain access to a rigorous and challenging curriculum that cultivates expertise in a range of geologic and geochemical subjects that are in high demand throughout the environmental consulting, geotechnical, remediation, monitoring and policy fields.
Geochemical research facilities at WMU are housed principally in the Haenicke Hall science complex, a modern facility that integrates geoscience, biology and chemistry research laboratories into one building to promote active cross-disciplinary research and collaborations. Research in geochemistry at WMU includes fundamental science and applied research directed at understanding and solving a range of environmental problems.
Beyond the classroom
As a geochemistry student at WMU, you will have numerous scholarship and endowment opportunities available to you, including those for general study, specific areas of study such as water quality, and endowments for students who will be pursuing teaching in geosciences.
You will have the unique opportunity to work with the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education, which focuses on student training, basic and applied research, and continuing education and outreach programs in energy, natural resources and the environment. You can also gain valuable experience and build your professional network through registered student organizations such as the WMU Geology Club and the WMU chapter of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
After you graduate
Recent WMU graduates with degrees in geochemistry are working as:
