Students who are not interested in law school but interested in a law-related career should consider Western Michigan University’s business law major.
In this major, you will take courses from the WMU Cooley Law School, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Haworth College of Business, giving you an integrated and interdisciplinary education. You will be able to choose your courses according to your interests from a set of courses from all three colleges.
The interdisciplinary nature of this program will give you a competitive edge in your career because you will be able to understand and solve problems at the intersection of law and business. You will have a strong foundation in general business law, developing and refining important law-related business skills. This major will also prepare you to use your law-related skills in connection with the formation of and operation of your own business, in areas such as real estate and mediation services.
Beyond the classroom
As a business law student at WMU, you will be encouraged to get involved in business-related student organizations. There are more than 20 registered student organizations in the college of business to choose from, depending on your interests.
After you graduate
WMU graduates with degrees in business law will be working in areas such as:
Compliance Human resources Mediation services Real estate
This program has a promising career outlook and addresses a growing need reported by the American Bar Association for programs that train people other than lawyers to provide limited legal services.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) A minimum score of 61 iBT is required. Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) A minimum score of 69 is required. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Module. A minimum score of 6.0 is required. Pearson Test of English Academic Module. A minimum score of 45 is required.
