Overview
The Disease Mechanisms and Therapeutics MSc is a dynamic master’s programme, allowing you to gain hands-on experience as you delve into present-day medical understanding and try to create real advances in disease treatment and prevention.
You’ll choose a specialist biomedical area and will learn about the molecular mechanisms leading to major human diseases and their current treatments. You will also work towards identifying medical advancements and possible innovative therapeutic approaches using technological developments.
The specialist areas to choose from include cancer biology and therapy; genomic technologies; vaccine and immunisation; or radiation, toxicology and pollution.
You’ll identify areas where there are knowledge gaps in current medical understanding. Throughout the course you will be encouraged to address these gaps by looking at existing research and literature and conducting your own research.
Teaching and Learning
During your course you will be fully integrated within the Department of Biomedical Sciences and directly supervised by one of our academic staff. This means that you will benefit from the use of our well established biomedical facilities and be part of one of Brunel’s research teams. Working alongside Brunel’s academics, PhD students and other master’s students, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to publications in your field of interest. We are a research intensive Department and the majority of our academics are also part of the successful and rapidly expanding research in Brunel’s Institute of Environment, Health and Societies.
Our academics have assisted governments with environmental and health policies, offered lung disease sufferers drug-free, medically proven treatments and helped consumers with food allergies make better choices. The practical research conducted at Brunel has helped millions of people worldwide lead healthier, happier lives.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) As a guideline and depending on the programme you apply for, we require the following grades from a recognised Chinese institution: A UK 2:1 (Second Class Upper) which is equivalent to a bachelor degree with a minimum score of 75% - 80%; A UK 2:2 (Second Class Lower) which is equivalent to a bachelor degree with a minimum score of 70% - 75%. Grades may vary depending upon the course chosen. In general, our courses ask for an English level of between IELTS 6.0 and 7.0 or equivalent. Some courses will have higher requirements (and will require you to also reach minimum sub-scores).
