Pursuing a graduate degree in Media Arts at the University of North Texas provides you many distinctive advantages, including:

The Department of Media Arts offers coursework leading to a Master of Arts degree in Media Arts. The M.A. degree has an emphasis in industry studies or critical cultural studies. Using a wide variety of professional, high definition cameras, audio gear and various post production platforms, you'll be engaged in rigorous and ambitious production opportunities, while being immersed in the history and current theories of the global, documentary genre.
Master of Arts
- Statement of Purpose explaining your creative and career goals and how an M.A. degree will help you achieve those goals.
- Two letters of recommendation from your professors or supervisors.
- Writing sample (research paper, professional report, substantial essay, etc.)
Degree requirements
You'll need to maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA while enrolled in either master's program. Detailed course requirements are available at the catalog or the Department of Media Arts website. There are regular academic progress and portfolio reviews of M.F.A. students, as well as minimum grade requirements on required and elective courses.
Master of Arts
- 6 credit hours of required courses
- 6 credit hours of prescribed electives
- 12 to 18 credit hours of electives
- 6 credit hours of thesis (optional)
- 6 to 12 semester hours in a minor area (optional)
