Program Overview
The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) online program is designed to prepare advanced practice nurses to manage the health of individuals from the age of 13 years through adulthood and the end of life. Emphasis in the program is on health restoration, management of complex, acute and chronic illnesses and complex health management of late adolescents, adults and older adults.
This fully online program will provide nurses with leadership skills, as well as the ability to use research findings to maximize healthcare delivery services for individuals who may be physiologically unstable, technologically dependent, and/or vulnerable for the development of complications.
UTA's fully online MSN in Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner includes these key elements:
Application in demonstrating clinical expertise and providing care to acutely ill patients—including diagnostic reasoning, complex monitoring, and therapies
Includes preparation to use research and theoretical principles to implement therapies that restore health, minimize complications and manage risk factors
Includes practice in integrating the patient's care across the continuum of acute care services in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, families and patients
Graduates are well-prepared for careers in gerontology and adult care and are highly employable. First-time certification pass rates for UTA nurse practitioner programs exceed 95%, among the highest in the U.S. Graduates may take the National Certification Exam as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
