The engineering programs have established the following expectations for the accomplishments of our graduates in the first several years following graduation: u200bu200bOur graduates will apply their engineering knowledge and problem solving skills in related professional fields.
- Our graduates will function as team members who think critically, communicate effectively, and demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
- Our graduates will be actively involved in their profession and engaged in lifelong learning activities in mechanical engineering or related fields.
- Our graduates will exhibit high levels of professionalism and professional ethics.
Student Outcomes
By the time of graduation from the Mechanical Engineering Program, students are expected to have:
- an ability to apply knowledge of advanced mathematics through multivariate calculus, statistics, linear algebra and differential equations, chemistry, calculus-based physics and engineering;
- an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data;
- an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability;
- an ability to function in multidisciplinary teams;
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems;
- an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility;
- an ability to communicate effectively;
- the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context;
- a recognition for the need for and an ability to engage in lifelong learning;
- a knowledge of contemporary issues;
- an ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice;
- an ability to work professionally in both thermal and mechanical systems areas including the design and realization of such systems.

English language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (minimum score of 550 PBT, 213 CBT, or 79 IBT), International English Language Testing System (minimum score of 6.5), Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (minimum score of 77), Pearson Test of English (minimum score of 53), ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112.
