The Public Health program is for those who want to teach others how to lead healthier lives. With the knowledge that our lifestyles affect our health, well-being, and longevity. Americans have an increased interest in practicing healthier lifestyles to improve their quality of life.
As a community health professional, you will inform and motivate people to lead healthy lifestyles. Your duties may include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating community health education programs and services. Whether you work in a classroom or a health agency, you will receive academic preparation in health sciences and develop educational, organizational and leadership skills. You will also learn to work effectively with people.
Public Health Education Major
u200bAs a health educator, you will inform and motivate people about healthy lifestyles and help communities develop healthy environments. You will deliver health service messages and evaluate public health needs and services.
The purpose of this major is to prepare students for careers in a variety of official, voluntary, community-based organizations, private health agencies, and hospitals. Some career possibilities include, but are not limited to: the education of the public regarding chronic and communicable disease prevention; the promotion of wellness; assessing, planning and implementing programs within communities; and organizing communities regarding health issues.
