Fashion Merchandising and Design (FMD) students study aesthetic and functional design, marketing and retailing of apparel and textiles in preparation for a variety of professional careers in the fashion industry. Through challenging courses that integrate design and merchandising in a way that closely reflects industry trends, students position themselves for jobs in the design, production and distribution of apparel and textile products.
The purpose of the major is to study textiles, fashion design, and merchandising. The major is planned to prepare students for a variety of professional careers in the fashion and textile industry.

Consider enhancing your eye for fashion while building your business sense with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising. Our graduates go on to careers in buying, store management, visual merchandising, product development and more.
Fashion Design Concentration u200b
Imagine matching your great fashion sensibility with high-tech ability in our concentration in Fashion Design. Career opportunities abound as a fashion designer, CAD designer, stylist, fashion trend coordinator, color analyst and beyond. Design graduates have stepped into the industry at Abercrombie and Fitch, Espirit, Rocawear and True Religion.
Career possibilities are available in the design, production, and distribution of fashion and textile products. The major includes a fashion merchandising and design core, plus additional required courses in each of the concentrations of fashion design or fashion merchandising.

English language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (minimum score of 550 PBT, 213 CBT, or 79 IBT), International English Language Testing System (minimum score of 6.5), Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (minimum score of 77), Pearson Test of English (minimum score of 53), ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112.
