Channel your curiosity about the human brain and behavior in our innovative neuropsychology program. Fusing core components of biology and psychology, this program prepares students for an impactful career in the growing field of neuroscience.
A fusion of psychology and biology, neuropsychology examines the biological basis for human functioning. This growing field includes the study of healthy brain functioning, like consciousness and memory, as well as complex neurological conditions like movement and mood disorders, dementia and addiction. There is still much to discover about human brain function and its impact on development, attention control, stress, cognition and more.
The biologically-based neuropsychology program at UNH Manchester gives students a more lab-centered experience than traditional psychology programs. Research is central to our program, bringing students and faculty together in cutting-edge laboratories to work on impactful projects on topics from concussions to Parkinson’s disease. Guided by faculty who are clinically trained in the field, neuropsychology majors explore human pathological states, like neurological conditions, and the biological changes associated with drugs and diseases. Our specialized course sequences allow students to fulfill pre-med requirements, preparing them for medical school and careers in clinical neuropsychology, mental health counseling, occupational therapy and physician assistant studies.
