The health sciences program is for those students who are concerned with the well-being of others; and who also possess a strong science aptitude. As healthcare has evolved in the U.S., degree programs in the allied health professions (athletic training, physical therapy, physician assistant, etc.) have moved to post-baccalaureate education. Individuals with career interests in allied health professions must first attain prerequisite knowledge to be prepared to study in these advanced degree programs. This rigorous academic program meets requirements for entry into graduate school for a career in athletic training or physical therapy, or as a physician assistant.
As a health sciences major at UNH, this program of study will prepare you for a range of careers in the large and interdisciplinary healthcare field. This versatile major provides the foundational, prerequisite knowledge for graduate education in health professions, and is general enough to give you flexibility to structure your program of study to your professional career interests. A Health Sciences student will have an academic advisor who understands the requirements and nuances of applying for and successful admission to advanced degree programs. Students will receive instruction in basic sciences, personal and community health & welfare, nutrition, epidemiology, injury and disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment, fitness and exercise, and health behaviors.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates a much faster than average job growth for most careers in health care.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Admission to UNH is competitive. A student’s academic record, including program of study, class rigor, standing in their class, and achievement is of primary importance in assessing a student’s potential for success at UNH. Students should complete the following sequences of college preparatory coursework to be considered minimally qualified for baccalaureate admission to the University: Demonstrated proficiency in English, Three years of mathematics, Three years of science, Three years of social sciences and Two years of a single foreign language (If English is your first language). International students, whose primary language is not English, must submit the results of a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo. The recommended minimum TOEFL score is 213 (computer version) or 550 (paper version) or 80 (Internet version). The minimum IELTS acceptable proficiency grade is 6.5. The minimum Duolingo scores are 70.
