The tourism, conventions, and event management (TCEM) major prepares students for careers in tourism, hospitality, and event management. Students study a broad array of disciplines such as event management, sports management, tourism planning, hospitality marketing, cultural tourism, and sustainability. TCEM students gain practical experience with events, conventions, and many high-profile sports franchises, hotels, museums, and large organizations.
The B.S. in Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management covers all angles of event management, hospitality, and tourism.
You'll explore the mechanics of tourism and event planning, from concept to execution, and you'll better understand the areas of food and beverage operations, lodging, and global tourism.
The Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management major will lead to a Bachelor of Science degree. Graduates are qualified to be employed in different segments of the event, tourism, and hospitality industry. TCEM can lead students to careers in: meeting planning, sports events, festival operations, hotel management, destination marketing, food and beverage, attractions and social/fundraising events. Upon completion of the degree, students will be able to:
- Define, apply, analyze and execute operational principles of tourism and event management.
- Perform effective oral and written communication skills.
- Address and analyze tourism sustainability and trends both critically and reflectively.
- Work efficiently and productively with persons from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and leadership skills to solve issues in a tourism-related environment.
- Advance best practices in the tourism and event profession.
- Practice a sense of community and civic mindedness.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have completed or will complete secondary school by the time of enrollment; No grade point average guarantees admission to IUPUI. We look for applicants who have demonstrated a "B" average or above average grades, with strong grades in math and science. TOEFL (iBT) – 60; IELTS – 5.5; IUPUI Program for Intensive English (PIE) score of Level 5; GCSE or GCE O Level in English language score of Grades A-C; International Baccalaureate score of Higher Level English A1 or A2 Certificate, grade of 4 or higher; Freshman English Composition Course score of "C" grade or higher (equivalent to IUPUI W131) from a regionally accredited U.S. University.
