The MEd in Secondary Education is a full-time, field-based program designed for those just entering the teaching field and require initial teaching licensure. This program builds on MEd student's content knowledge, while deepening and broadening their understanding of teaching and learning in immersive urban contexts. Loyola offers secondary endorsements (6–12) in the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Math, Physics, Political Science, and Psychology. Endorsements in French, Italian, Latin and Spanish are for grades K–12.
Graduates of the program will receive a master's degree and an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in secondary grades 9–12 in the subject area.

- Graduate from a respected program accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
- Earn a certificate to teach worldwide through the International Baccalaureate Organization.
- Gain extensive deep experiences engaging with diverse populations, including students with special needs and those labeled as English language learners (all graduates are eligible for ESL endorsement).

- Candidates will apply deep understanding of both content and pedagogy to provide developmentally appropriate instruction to all students.

- Candidates will utilize information from theories and related research-based practices when making decisions and taking action in their professional practice.
- Candidates will use data to drive instruction and assess teaching and learning effectiveness.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 The Graduate School welcomes applications from international students who have completed a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or its equivalent. TOEFL, a minimum score of 79 on the iBT or a 550 on the written test is required. IELTS, a minimum score of 6.0 is required. PTE, a minimum score of 53 is required.
