The Quinlan School of Business' BBA in International Business degree prepares students to excel in positions involving global trade and commerce by imparting the business and communication skills needed to compete internationally.
The international business major combines courses in international accounting, marketing, economics, finance, management, supply chain management, some international political science choices and cultural anthropology choices with foreign-language study. A study abroad experience is required for the major.
Goal
The goal for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in International Business program is to prepare students for career excellence in positions involving global accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and supply chain by imparting social awareness as well as business and communication skills needed to participate in overseas markets.
Outcomes
At the completion of the program the graduate will be prepared to:
- Develop theoretical and practical insights for understanding the real world of international business in terms of external environmental forces, cultural, political and economic diversity, and internal strategic management issues surrounding multinational enterprises (MNEs) in the world markets.
- Develop critical thinking skills, especially important in an area that changes as fast and is as complex as the field of international business.
- Develop ability to integrate knowledge from several functional areas of firms, i.e., accounting, business law, economics, finance, information systems, operations, management, and marketing in order to properly understand and work in this area.
- Develop a high level of cross-country and cross-cultural literacy on diverse functional and value-chain activities of MNEs taking place across national borders with emphasis on world languages and study abroad experience.
- Develop research, written, and oral communications skills by preparing for in-depth case presentations on successful MNEs and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) currently operating in the real business world.
- Develop perspectives on business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability with respect to the area of international business.
