The Quinlan School of Business' BBA in Information Systems degree program prepares students for a professional career in this dynamic field by incorporating extensive general knowledge in information systems and data analysis.
The curriculum responds to the rapidly changing role of information technology and data analysis in the business environment. Courses in the program cover industry topics including: systems analysis and design, requirements analysis and communication, database and data warehousing systems, and business intelligence. The Loyola student network provides the student with access to current systems development environments including: Oracle, Teradata, OLAP/BI Tools, and Data Visualization Tools, VBA, and C #.
Goal
The goal of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems program is to prepare business professionals for careers and roles that involve the use of data analysis and information technology.
Outcomes
At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:
- Utilize the entire systems development life cycle of information systems, including: requirement analysis and specification, system analysis and design, conceptual and logical data modeling, implementation and testing of back and front end, and use of information systems.
- Execute a variety of data analysis and data visualization methods and techniques.
- Conduct data analysis and information systems focused projects.
- Demonstrate competence with SQL and at least one programming language.
- Integrate values and ethics into data analysis and information systems projects and solutions.
- Communicate and collaborate with diverse teams comprised of business as well as systems professional at different levels, within a variety of business units and organizations.
