COURSE OVERVIEW
The first to be accredited by the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) – the national register for qualified sport and exercise nutritionists – this course is academically challenging, vocationally relevant and underpinned by evidence-based practice. It focuses on the study of nutrition in relation to sport and exercise.
As part of your course you’ll:
- Gain a thorough understanding of the multidisciplinary aspects of sport and exercise nutrition
- Study the principles and applications of sport and exercise nutrition in practice
- Examine scientific concepts that promote an understanding of issues in the study of sport and exercise nutrition
Upon completion of your course, you’ll be able to apply for graduate registration with the SENr.
Whether you aspire to work in high-performance sport or in the promotion of physical activity, exercise and health, this course will develop the professional skills relevant to a host of work-related settings. A series of nutrition workshops and applied sessions will also provide you with the opportunities to develop your practical skills and apply your expertise. If you’d like to gain additional practical experience alongside your academic study, you’ll be able to apply for an internship in an applied sport science setting, working with elite athletes under the guidance of a registered SENr practitioner.
TEACHING & LEARNING
Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to the specialist learning and study-skill resources. You’ll also be assigned an academic advisor to give you tailored feedback and support.
