The M.Ed. in educational leadership prepares graduates to be transformative leaders who successfully lead educational organizations. Coursework is specially designed to prepare you with the skills and knowledge to meet contemporary challenges and make a difference for teaching and student learning.
If you are ready to develop your leadership potential as a school or district level administrator, supervisor, superintendent, or other leader, our program offers:

The Master’s in Educational Leadership Program offers concentrations in Administration and Supervision as well as Leadership Studies. Note: The Administration and Supervision concentration can be completed fully online, and the Leadership Studies concentration is in-person.
Program Concentrations
Administration and Supervision
The administration and supervision concentration of the M.Ed. in educational leadership is a 33-credit-hour program that prepares individuals for endorsement as an administrator/supervisor K-12.
Designed for working professionals, this program can be completed in as little as 16 months. Applicants must possess an active five-year renewable educator license and are expected to have at least two years of experience in a school setting in an instructional personnel position requiring licensure in Virginia. Individuals who successfully complete the program are eligible for endorsement as an administrator/supervisor K-12.
Leadership Studies
The leadership studies concentration of the M.Ed. in educational leadership is a 30-credit-hour program for individuals who hold or expect to hold leadership positions in educational organizations but who do not wish to obtain the administration/supervision endorsement from the Virginia Department of Education.
Designed for working professionals, this program can be completed in as little as 16 months. Applicants are expected to have at least two years of experience in an educational setting.
