The Liberal Studies for Early and Elementary Education major provides students with a broad background in the elementary content areas of math, science, social studies, and language arts, as well as a foundation in education history and pedagogy. The BIS in LSEE provides a foundation for a teaching career ranging from pre-K through sixth grade. Many students pursuing Liberal Studies for Early and Elementary Education as a primary major have sufficient elective space to pursue a minor in another discipline.
The Liberal Studies for Early and Elementary Education BIS degree in the College of Humanities and Sciences is designed in conjunction with the Master in Teaching in the School of Education as a 5.5 year, dual degree program. Students who fulfill all the requirements for the LSEE undergraduate degree are accepted into the three semester MT Program. Upon successful completion of both degrees, graduates are eligible for initial licensure from the Virginia Department of Education.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Admission to a Virginia Commonwealth University undergraduate degree program requires graduation from a secondary school or the equivalent (lyceum, senior middle school, university preparatory school, completion of GCSE exams, Standard 12 graduation, etc.), which typically consists of at least 12 years beyond kindergarten. Your secondary education should be the type that would prepare you for entrance to a recognized university in your home country. The required TOEFL score for undergraduate applicants is 70 iBT with the exception of the College of Engineering where the TOEFL score would remain at 80 on iBT; Reading 13-18, Listening 12-19 and Writing 21-23 PBT; or IELTS of 6.0 (academic band score) and 6.5 for Engineering. The required PTE score is 53.
