Program goals
The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences provides the student with advanced theoretical and technical education and prepares students to assume roles as laboratory supervisors, educators and researchers.

Degree requirements
In addition to the general VCU Graduate School graduation requirements, students in the accelerated B.S.-to-M.S.-degree program are required to complete a minimum of 40 graduate credit hours to include 20 credits from core courses, 12 credits of discipline-specific courses and eight credits of electives. A research study in the form of a project related to medical laboratory sciences is required.
Beginning with the first semester of the Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences program, candidates for the accelerated curriculum are expected to be full-time students and complete both the B.S. and M.S. requirements in three years.
Upon completion of the curriculum, students are eligible to take the ASCP BOC national certification examination for a Medical Laboratory Scientist generalist.
In addition to these requirements, the department faculty will review continuation in the program if: 1. A student fails to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 2. A student receives a D or F in a course. 3. A student receives a grade of C on more than one CLLS graduate course or more than nine graduate credit hours (CLLS and non-CLLS credits) 4. A student receives a grade of U (unsatisfactory) on required graduate course work 5. A student fails to demonstrate appropriate professional responsibility

為來自中國的學生設(shè)計 Admission to a Virginia Commonwealth University undergraduate degree program requires graduation from a secondary school or the equivalent (lyceum, senior middle school, university preparatory school, completion of GCSE exams, Standard 12 graduation, etc.), which typically consists of at least 12 years beyond kindergarten. Your secondary education should be the type that would prepare you for entrance to a recognized university in your home country. The required TOEFL score for undergraduate applicants is 70 iBT with the exception of the College of Engineering where the TOEFL score would remain at 80 on iBT; Reading 13-18, Listening 12-19 and Writing 21-23 PBT; or IELTS of 6.0 (academic band score) and 6.5 for Engineering. The required PTE score is 53.
