The major in accounting is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in accounting. This program will qualify graduates to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in Virginia. However, certification requires 150 hours of college credits. Most public accounting firms give hiring preference to applicants who have completed the full 150 hours prior to starting work.
CURRICULUM
Our program is designed to prepare you for successful completion of the CPA exam and to land great accounting jobs. We maintain a close partnership with the professional community to ensure our curriculum is based on market demands.
We recently launched a concentration in data analytics for students who want to prepare to meet the growing need for data analytics modeling and analysis in accounting.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Accountants examine and prepare financial records. They are responsible for confirming accuracy, ensuring records comply with local, state, and federal laws, and typically are called upon to make recommendations based on that financial data. There are several types of accountants:
1. Public accountants are generally employed by firms and serve as an independent third party to review and attest to other organizations' or individuals' financial documents. Public accountants often gain experience working with a variety of industries.
2. Private or Corporate accountants are employed by a company and typically develop management accounting expertise in their individual companies and industries.
3. Government accountants examine and prepare financial records of various government agencies.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Admission to a Virginia Commonwealth University undergraduate degree program requires graduation from a secondary school or the equivalent (lyceum, senior middle school, university preparatory school, completion of GCSE exams, Standard 12 graduation, etc.), which typically consists of at least 12 years beyond kindergarten. Your secondary education should be the type that would prepare you for entrance to a recognized university in your home country. The required TOEFL score for undergraduate applicants is 70 iBT with the exception of the College of Engineering where the TOEFL score would remain at 80 on iBT; Reading 13-18, Listening 12-19 and Writing 21-23 PBT; or IELTS of 6.0 (academic band score) and 6.5 for Engineering. The required PTE score is 53.
