Through the University of Alabama's master's degree program in Special Education Collaborative 6-12 you can gain the skills you need to help secondary school students reach their full potential.
The Special Education and Multiple Abilities faculty recognize special education as a dynamic field dedicated to the realization of human potential. It is the mission of the Special Education and Multiple Abilities Department to facilitate ideas and professional knowledge necessary to maximize learning opportunities for prospective practitioners and ultimately for children experiencing cognitive, social, behavioral, physical and/or multiple disabilities.
The Master of Arts degree program in Special Education Collaborative (6-12) is designed for educators who currently hold bachelor's-level teaching certification. Completion of the program leads to Alabama Class A certification in Collaborative 6-12. The program prepares a highly qualified corps of teaching professionals to service the educational needs of secondary school students with exceptionalities.
The program utilizes a variety of delivery formats that include online, weekend, and online courses making it convenient for educators working full time to earn an advanced degree. Courses are led by experienced faculty members from the College of Education.

English Language Requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 79 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT). International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 6.5. Pearson Test of English (PTE): The minimum score of admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 59.
