The MA program in economics is designed to prepare students for careers as professional economists in business, government agencies, colleges, and universities.
There are three tracks available for the MA degree in economics. Track I provides preparation for the PhD in economics, Track II is designed for students who wish to pursue careers applying economic analysis and Track III provides a strong foundation for students who have strong interests in public policy issues.
Track I
The following are the requirements for the MA degree in economics to prepare for the PhD:
- EC 570 Mathematical Economics
- EC 610 Seminar In Microeconomic Theory
- EC 611 Sem in Macroeconomic Theory
- EC 616 Sem Monetary Economics
- EC 660 Game Theory
- EC 670 Econometrics
- EC 671 Seminar : Econometrics
- ST 554 Math Statistics
Track II
The following are the requirements for the MA degree in applied economics:
- EC 513 Economic Forecasting Analysis
- EC 571 Econometrics
- EC 508 Microeconomic Theory
- EC 509 Macroeconomic Theory/Policy
- EC 570 Mathematical Economics
- ST 521 Statistical Data Management
- ST 522 Advance Statistical Data Management
- ST 531 Data Mining
- ST 532 Advanced Data Mining
Track III
The following are the requirements for the MA degree in public policy economics:
- EC 513 Economic Forecasting Analysis
- EC 571 Econometrics
- EC 508 Microeconomic Theory
- EC 509 Macroeconomic Theory/Policy
- EC 570 Mathematical Economics

English Language Requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 79 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT). International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 6.5. Pearson Test of English (PTE): The minimum score of admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 59.
