Developed as one of the first of its kind in the UK, the course is relevant for engineering graduates who intend to enter or enhance their career prospects in the oil or natural gas industry.
The course explores the geology, exploration, drilling, production (surface and subsurface), reservoir engineering and management, distribution and transmission of oil and gas from practical and theoretical viewpoints. Alongside this specialised knowledge of natural resources, you will also develop a range of transferable skills, such as mathematical analysis, problem-solving, communications and laboratory skills.
On completion, you may be eligible to join the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers or Society of Petroleum Engineers which may enable future opportunities to qualify as a Chartered Engineer.
You will:
- Explore gas and oil exploration, drilling, production and delivery
- Learn to make management and scientific design making and problem-solving
- Understand the distribution and transmission of oil and gas from practical and theoretical viewpoints

EMPLOYMENT
Due to the relative uniqueness of this course in the UK, together with the high demand of graduates with the types of skills and knowledge that this course offers, employment prospects are excellent. Graduates can expect to enter or progress in industries such as petroleum, gas, process engineering, chemical or steel.
CAREER LINKS
This programme is strongly supported by major petroleum and gas engineering technology providers. Salford has strong links with industry covering companies that span the gas and petroleum industry. These links have developed through collaborative research and development projects, or via the commercial testing of products/components. The knowledge gained through these engagements all feed into teaching and learning, and help to connect learning to real-world scenarios.
Students can also exit with PGDip award.

中國學(xué)生入學(xué)要求
為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree from a reputable Chinese university with a GPA of 2.4/4.0 or a final grade of 60% or above will be considered for postgraduate study. Applicants who have completed a higher education self study graduation certificate (zi’kao) with a final grade of 70% or above, and at least two years of relevant work experience, will be considered for postgraduate study. We require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
