在這里學(xué)什么?
The M.Arch. is a NAAB-accredited program for students with undergraduate degrees in Architecture or other fields who wish to become licensed architects. Graduate student research opportunities explore many emerging facets of Architecture.
Program Objectives
As an Architecture school within a research university, we are a platform for innovation. Our emphasis on research faculty offers students the opportunity to collaborate in growing areas from nanotechnology to augmented and virtual reality, and to explore the frontiers of robotics and digital fabrication. Our program objectives are grounded in professional accreditation requirements.
Learning Outcomes
- Build abstract relationships and understand the impact of ideas based on the study and analysis of multiple theoretical, social, political, economic, cultural and environmental contexts.
- Use a diverse range of skills to think about and convey architectural ideas, including writing, investigating, speaking, drawing and modeling.
- Comprehend the technical aspects of design, systems and materials and be able to apply that comprehension to architectural solutions considering their impact on the environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to synthesize a wide range of variables into an integrated design solution.
- Understand business principles for the practice of Architecture, including management, advocacy, and the need to act legally, ethically and critically for the good of the client, society and the public.
Degree Requirements for Professional M.Arch.
This 102-credit program consists of a 72-credit core and an options sequence of 30 credits including 12 studio and 18 elective credits. Students are expected to complete the core sequence in a minimum of two years. Before registering for courses, all students must consult with the graduate advisor to plan an appropriate course of study.
Students must submit a portfolio of design work at completion of the core courses. The portfolio will be reviewed in connection with advising students on their further program of study.
Core courses in the M.Arch. program represent the minimum background necessary to meet NAAB standards. If students demonstrate that they have previously completed equivalent course work, degree credit requirements may be reduced to less than the 102 credits required for the program. To remain in good academic standing, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in graduate courses. Students must repeat any design studio course in which they receive a grade of C. A grade of C+ in any design studio must be followed by a subsequent grade sufficient to raise the annual cumulative design studio GPA to 2.75. Incomplete (I) grades for studio and prerequisite courses must be removed before students will be permitted to register for continuing course work in the program.
