The purpose of the Engineering Management master’s degree is to educate individuals with a technical undergraduate background who are in or aspire to assume a management role in a technologically based, project-oriented environment within an industrial, engineering, service or government organization.
Program Objectives
By drawing on the diverse resources available through the university and surrounding industry, the M.S. in Engineering Management program develops engineers and other technically trained individuals for leadership roles in a technologically based enterprise.
Graduates of the M.S. in Engineering Management program have: Skills in such areas as project management and control, cost estimating, financial analysis, total quality management and human resources management; An ability to connect textbook and classroom content to real-world applications; The ability to manage technical/engineering projects and programs; The ability to climb the managerial ladder within their organization.
Learning Outcomes
Students pursuing this program are expected to meet the following learning outcomes: Use engineering, financial, information and human resources tools to achieve the on time and within budget completion of projects; Successfully use professional communication, organization and time management skills; Problem-solve both as an individual and as part of a team; Identify and utilize evidence-based resources and information; Recognize and utilize the best practices relevant to the student’s discipline; Act professionally and ethically.
