The Master of Engineering in systems engineering provides the right blend of technical and management training to prepare systems engineers for positions of increasing responsibility. Upon graduation, students are exceptionally well prepared to apply systems thinking at the system, system of systems and enterprise levels to successfully conceptualize systems and their support throughout their lifecycle. Graduates can work effectively at the interface between engineering and management in areas including healthcare, technology, business, finance, manufacturing and defense.
Capable systems leaders, with the technical knowledge to design cutting edge systems and the skills to operate, and maintain them in an increasingly complex, globally interconnected business and policy environment, are in demand in the 21st century.
As the largest provider of systems engineering education to the U.S. federal government and to industries worldwide, the Master of Engineering in systems engineering from the School of Systems and Enterprises teaches the multidisciplinary skills and approaches needed to architect, design and manage complex technical systems and processes throughout their life cycles.
The program provides students with the right blend of engineering, technology and management training, and prepares graduates to become technical leaders who apply a systems approach to successfully navigate and manage complex systems. Our graduates are able to address systems integration, life cycle issues and systems thinking at the system and enterprise levels, in a market where globalization, quality, complexity and productivity are the business drivers.

The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in systems engineering graduate program offers a multidisciplinary approach to engineering education by providing a blend of engineering, systems and management subjects. Our graduates manage engineering and technology, are able to address systems integration, life-cycle issues, and systems thinking at the system and enterprise levels, in a market where globalization, technology, quality, complexity and productivity are the key business drivers.
Completion of this program will result in the following Master of Engineering degree in systems engineering with a concentration in:
Large-scale cyber-physical systems, or
Embedded cyber-physical systems, or
Space systems, or
Software systems, or
unspecified (if courses not taken in one concentration, as noted below).
Students satisfying the requirement for the space systems concentration, may alternatively receive a degree in Master of Engineering in space systems engineering. Students who, with their advisor’s approval, choose not to complete all of the courses in a single concentration will receive a Master of Engineering in systems engineering degree without a specified concentration.
