An interdisciplinary subject, criminology draws on a range of perspectives relating to crime looking at sociology, psychology, and law, and as such provides new opportunities for scholarship and advanced research. The School of Social and Political Sciences benefits from an active research base ensuring that staff are involved in current debates and that students are made aware of relevant developments and issues. Each research student is supported by a programme of research training. Opportunities for research are available across a range of topics in social and political sciences. Current students’ research projects include policy responses to extremism and terrorism, institutional betrayal and sexual misconduct, police culture, young people and the police, young women and violence, regional inequality in police forces, harm reduction interventions for injecting drug users, and gambling policy.

為來自中國的學生設(shè)計 Prospective students require one of the following qualifications: A Chinese degree from a recognised institution with a minimum average grade of 70% (GPA 2.5), some programmes may require 80% or a GPA 3.0; Successful completion of a UK Bachelor degree with a minimum grade of 2:2. Students need to have an IELTS score of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score). Some courses require a higher IELTS score.
