About this course
The Security Studies programme introduces you to emerging paradigms within security studies, security and intelligence at local, national and global levels.

- Examine key themes and debates shaping the concepts of security and security studies
- Address critical areas of contemporary concern within security studies, such as foreign policy, the role of radicalisation in international politics and the evolving dangers of financial crime
- Gain a solid academic grounding in criminology, terrorism and intelligence
The Security Studies programme introduces you to emerging paradigms within security studies, security and intelligence at local, national and global levels.
It explores what we mean by the concept of ‘security’ and analyses justifications for the increasing ‘securitisation’ of social life. The course provides an analysis of important security events and issues of the 20th and 21st centuries.

To cater for the wide-ranging content of our courses and the varied learning preferences of our students, we offer a range of assessment methods on each programme. Assessment techniques vary from module to module to reflect relevant assessment approaches and the key learning points of each topic.
Students can also exit with PGDip or PGCert Awards.
