The Anderson MACCT prepares students with or without accounting backgrounds in the accounting profession to be experts in areas such as taxation, information assurance, auditing, finance, fraud, and managerial accounting. With individualized attention from the MACCT staff and professors, students obtain the skills and analytical thinking to become CPAs and leaders in their field. All concentrations in the MACCT program are 33 credit hours and prepare students to take the CPA exam upon completion.
The Professional Concentration is designed for individuals who have a non-accounting undergraduate degree (i.e., Finance, Biology, English, Human Resources) and wish to enter public accounting as a certified professional. The Professional Concentration is a 33-39 hour program of study depending on whether the student has completed two introductory courses prior to admission:
an introductory financial accounting course, and an introductory managerial accounting course prior to admission in the program. (If you do not take the prerequisites at the Anderson School of Management, then please visit with the graduate programs advisor for pre-approval of the prerequisite coursework prior to taking a course.) These courses may also be completed at the undergraduate level if taken before admission.
In addition to completing the prerequisites, students must complete 33 hours of graduate coursework as outlined in the curriculum schedule for the Professional Concentration of the MACCT. (Advanced/Tax Concentration students do not need to complete the prerequisites.)
