Thirty credit hours in Portuguese courses numbered 276 and above. In addition, demonstrated 202/276 skill level in a language other than Portuguese or English must be documented or completed. Three required courses (12 credit hours) include: 276 or 277 and two of the following: 301, 311, 312. Six elective courses (18 credit hours) at the 300-400 level. Students planning to major in Portuguese should consult with the Undergraduate Advisor for Portuguese. All grades must be "C" or better.
Portuguese Topic Courses 414 and 461 are repeatable as topics change.

A program that focuses on the Portuguese language and related dialects. Includes instruction in philology; Metropolitan Portuguese; Luso-Brazilian Portuguese; dialects; and applications in business, science/technology, and other settings.

Academic Preparation: Strong academic preparation or a U.S. equivalent grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (for freshman applicants) or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (for transfer students with the equivalent of 24 college credit hours). TOEFL (internet-based) 68, TOEFL (paper-based) 520, IELTS 6.0, Pearson Test of English 47.
