The B.A. major in Linguistics requires a minimum of 33 credit hours numbered above 200 (24 in required courses, 9 in approved electives) and four semesters of a second language or the equivalent. Required courses are: LING 301, 302 or 303, 304, 322, 331, 367, 412 or 446, 425 or 429. The 9 credit hours in approved electives may be selected from courses in linguistics or from courses in other departments approved by the department advisor.

A program that focuses on language, language development, and relationships among languages and language groups from a humanistic and/or scientific perspective. Includes instruction in subjects such as psycholinguistics, behavioral linguistics, language acquisition, sociolinguistics, mathematical and computational linguistics, grammatical theory and theoretical linguistics, philosophical linguistics, philology and historical linguistics, comparative linguistics, phonetics, phonemics, dialectology, semantics, functional grammar and linguistics, language typology, lexicography, morphology and syntax, orthography, stylistics, structuralism, rhetoric, and applications to artificial intelligence.

為來自中國的學生設計 Secondary Education: Completion of the equivalent of an American upper secondary school education (approximately twelve years of formal education beginning at age six) and have the appropriate diplomas or satisfactory results on leaving examinations (if completed). Academic Preparation: Strong academic preparation or a U.S. equivalent grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (for freshman applicants) or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (for transfer students with the equivalent of 24 college credit hours). TOEFL (internet-based) 68, TOEFL (paper-based) 520, IELTS 6.0, Pearson Test of English 47.
