The Master of Arts in Educational Studies is a multi-disciplinary graduate degree program designed to provide students with greater understanding of the foundations of education, learning, development, and research in education and social change. Students will choose a concentration in Higher Education Administration, Educational Psychology and Child Study, Applied Research Methods, and Foundations of Education and Social Change.
The Higher Education Administration concentration is designed to advance the careers, leadership competencies, and knowledge base of local, regional, and national college and university administrators, academic and student affairs professionals, and for-profit academic administrators. Additionally, individuals from other non-profit backgrounds seeking career advancement opportunities in the field of higher education will benefit from earning a degree in Higher Education Administration. The concentration focuses on content that higher education leaders and college and university administrators are required to be knowledgeable in, as well as, provide students with foundational knowledge and innovative solutions that build stronger academic and postsecondary institutions.
Within the Educational Psychology and Child Study concentration, students will gain expertise in developmental learning sciences (human learning and development; cognitive and developmental psychology) and the developmental study of children.
Within the Applied Research Methods concentration, students will learn the understanding, application and development of quantitative methodologies and/or mixed research as tools to gather evidence in the field of education and other social and behavioral sciences. Students may also acquire certificates in Assessment and Evaluation, Developmental and Learning Sciences, or others depending on academic interests. Note: certificates may require additional coursework.
Within the Foundations of Education and Social Change concentration, students will gain expertise in the cultural, historical, and social foundations of education and educational and community-based action research. The Foundations of Education and Social Change concentration reflects the interdisciplinary, community-engaged, and problem-focused nature of action research with a mission to “promote social justice and strengthen communities, locally and globally, by advancing research, education, and action through participatory and reflective practices.”
Success
The Master's program in Educational Studies requires that applicants have strong skills in verbal and mathematical reasoning and technical writing. Successful participants will have a passion for education, learning and research.
Career
Students completing the Master's degree program in Educational Studies may further their career opportunities a wide variety of fields. Graduates have gone on to work in or advance their careers in settings and organizations such as:
- Child and family development and care
- Educational research

- Community-based advocacy
- Hospital and other health organizations
- Further study in doctoral programs

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have: An active and unrestricted RN license; Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree conferred from a regionally and ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or CCNE accredited institution; Completion of an undergraduate statistics course with a grade of “C” or better; A minimum of one year of RN experience (preferably in labor and delivery).
