The sport administration curriculum focus is on the business side of the sport industry and was developed to meet the standards of the Sport Management Program Review Council. The sport administration program provides graduates with a strong technical foundation and the sport business skills necessary to successfully enter the field of sport management.
Success
Successful sport administration graduates must have technical sport business skills as well as conceptual skills to see the big picture. Additionally, a successful sport manager must have a high level of interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with an array of constituents. Sport administrators also require excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
Sport management success depends upon critical thinking and creative problem solving with an emphasis on teamwork. However, the most important factor to success is a love of sports.
Career
There are approximately five million people working in sport-related occupations. Graduates are prepared for a variety of positions in professional sports, college athletics and high school athletic administration. Career opportunities exist within sport associations and sporting events as well as the management of sport venues. Other opportunities include the field of health and fitness, recreation, and within the sporting goods industry.

Recommended: foreign language, anatomy and physiology or a third unit in social science with a grade of C or better in all required courses; Recommended minimum high school GPA of 3.0; Completed application and official high school or preparatory school transcripts.
