Because of the complexity of most production systems, managers responsible for ensuring delivery of goods and services in every industry require an enormous amount of assistance and support. Industrial management graduates from UC's Carl H. Lindner College of Business oversee the planning, scheduling and coordination of work flow and processing activities to deliver quality products and services effectively and efficiently. They support other managers in finance and marketing functions to make the overall organization operate effectively.
A degree in industrial management positions students for such challenges, through education in subjects pertinent to direct supervision of tasks (line jobs) as well as support activities such as quality management, project planning and materials control (staff jobs).
Success
Industrial managers are individuals with strong technical and quantitative abilities who desire management careers. Successful professionals in the industrial management field are problem solvers and have an analytical mind set. Other attributes include: Quantitative proficiency, Ability to identify and control risk, Strong organizational skills, Attention to detail, Excellent oral, written and electronic communication capabilities, Leadership skills, Competence in decision making, Capacity for teamwork.
Career
UC's bachelor's degree in industrial management (BSIM) enjoys an outstanding reputation and recruiters throughout the Midwest compete for its quality graduates. Positions offered recently to graduating students include production manager, manufacturing engineer, industrial marketing representative and purchasing manager, among others. Salaries are typically in the 90th percentile of graduates from the Lindner College of Business. Recently a vice president of purchasing at a major automobile firm commented, "The alumni base of BSIMs from Cincinnati is really strong. BSIM graduates from UC are in top positions in every firm in the automotive industry supply chain."

Recommended: foreign language, anatomy and physiology or a third unit in social science with a grade of C or better in all required courses; Recommended minimum high school GPA of 3.0; Completed application and official high school or preparatory school transcripts.
