Overview
The English Language MA offers the best of both taught and research-focused postgraduate courses, enabling students to concentrate on and tailor their assessments to their individual interests while teaching them the practical skills involved in English language research. It is taught by staff who are active researchers with expertise across a range of English language and linguistics subfields. It is an ideal stepping-stone to either research at PhD level or a career in teaching, publishing, or research. The focus on individual choice, developing your own specialisms, enables you to produce your best possible work.

Teaching and assessments
As well as traditional essays, assessed work includes presentations and blog posts. The 15,000-word dissertation is guided by one-to-one tutorial contact, placing emphasis on independent study with the tutor monitoring your progress.

Students can undertake careers in a range of areas, including events management, teaching and further research including PhD research.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students should have a four year Chinese Bachelor’s degree with 70% for courses requiring a 2:2 classification, and 75% for courses requiring a 2:1 classification. Some courses have additional entry criteria such as a portfolio, work experience or require you to have a degree in a related field. IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent.
