As an undergraduate majoring in technical communication, you will study both the theory and practice of communication in written, oral, and nonverbal forms.
Some of your courses both general education and major courses will be completely online. You will learn how to function successfully in online environments because much of your future work as a technical communicator may take place in such environments.
Major requirements: 33 credit hours
You are required to complete a core curriculum of 33 credit hours, which includes:
- TCH COM 2540 Layout and Design (co-listed with ENGL 2540): 3 hours
- TCH COM 2560 Technical Marketing Communication (co-listed with ENGL 2560): 3
- TCH COM 5620 Research Methods in Technical Communication: 3
- ENGL 2410 Theory of Written Communication: 3
- TCH COM 3440 Theory of Visual Technical Communication: 3
- TCH COM 4410 Theory and Practice of Technical Communication: 3 (capstone)
- Five TCH COM electives, which may include ENGL 3560 and/or 3302 (15)
