The materials science and engineering department offers a Bachelor of Science in ceramic engineering. Students majoring in ceramic engineering take a number of engineering management, metallurgical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, math, science and humanities courses in addition to core ceramic engineering curriculum courses.
As an undergraduate ceramic engineering student, you’ll be designing the materials that make it possible for other engineering disciplines to advance, including:
- Glass fibers and optical devices for telecommunication networks;
- Electronic ceramics that make cell phones possible;
- High temperature materials that allow jet engines to operate at more efficient temperatures; and
- Biocompatible materials to replace diseased tissues.
All undergraduates must have a significant experiential learning experience prior to graduation. These experiences may include co-op or internships, student design teams, undergraduate research, and others. The specific experience is documented during the senior design course (Cer Eng 4096).

為來自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have high school and/or college transcripts. Minimum English proficiency test score requirements are 79 for TOEFL, 6.0 for IELTS, or 53 for PTE.
