在這里學(xué)什么?
Biomedical engineering (BME) is a discipline that applies engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. Seeking to close the gap between engineering and medicine, this field combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological science to advance healthcare treatment, diagnosis, therapy, instrumentation, and technology. The curriculum, administered by the College of Engineering, carries a heavy focus on fundamental engineering principles, requiring six core courses in this area. Instruction also includes courses in biology, math, physics, and medical physiology. Students will have access to a variety of immersive, hands-on learning experiences throughout the program, including undergraduate research alongside program faculty, internships and clinical observation opportunities, and senior design projects. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared for employment in the fields of healthcare technology, biomedical device design, and healthcare data analytics – among others. Graduates will also be strong candidates for professional schools in medicine and veterinary medicine as well as graduate programs in a variety of engineering disciplines.
