What to expect
Build an understanding of research and practice in tourism, hospitality and events as a complex field of business. Gain sought-after skills in digital fluency, sustainability, resilience and futures thinking, with a focus on tropical environments.

Design and deliver customer-informed tourism, hospitality and events services and experiences with professional practice subjects and 400 hours of skills development. Partake in real-world practical placements, with the opportunity for paid internships at five star industry partners. You will gain barista, RSA and HACCP qualifications during this course.

The JCU Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events (THE degree) graduate will:
- Demonstrate broad and coherent body of knowledge drawn from multiple disciplines necessary for understanding tourism hospitality and events systems;
- Work collaboratively and creatively to promote innovation and apply critical thinking and problem-solving strategies in disruptive business domestic and global contexts
- Demonstrate resilience, initiative, independence, judgement, and reflective practice with a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
- Critically evaluate, interpret and communicate information, data and resources in academic and digital contexts
- Model ethical, sustainable and socially responsible standards in decision making and professional practice
- Apply knowledge and skills to identify, design and deliver customer-informed sustainable tourism, hospitality and events services and experiences
- Demonstrate an understanding of research informed practice in tourism, hospitality and events integrating industry intelligence and insights from multiple disciplines
- Apply critical thinking skills to resource, analyse and synthesise information and develop solutions for tourism, hospitality and events
- Apply technical and digital skills, including literacy and numeracy necessary for professional practice in business

English Language Requirements: Academic IELTS: 6.0 (no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based): 550 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 4.5); TOEFL (internet-based): 79 (minimum writing score of 19); Pearson (PTE Academic): 57; Occupational English Test (OET): Completion and an overall pass with minimum grades A or B only in each of the four components.
