在這里學(xué)什么?
The Department of History offers M.A. and Ph.D. programs in American and European history and more limited graduate study in Ancient, African, Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern history. In addition, we sponsor a number of interdisciplinary doctoral programs. The Hagley Program in Capitalism, Technology, and Culture (in conjunction with the Hagley Museum and Library) has a focus on training graduate students in the history of industrialization, political economy, capitalism, technology, consumption, business, labor, and the environment. The History of American Civilization program (in cooperation with the Center for Material Culture Studies and the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture) is characterized by a dual emphasis on interdisciplinary scholarship and material culture studies. The department maintains close ties with the University’s Center for Material Culture Studies and houses the Museum Studies certificate program, through which students, as a supplement to their training in history, may prepare for careers in museums and historical organizations. The History Department also participates in the University’s African American Public Humanities Initiative, an interdisciplinary program integrating the disciplines of History, English, Art History, and Africana Studies to train students for a broad range of careers in and beyond the academy.
Graduates from its programs hold professional positions in government, schools, museums, and historical agencies, in addition to academic positions in colleges and universities.
