More than ever, graduates are needed to fill positions that connect science and society, and balance the needs of humans and earth’s inhabitants with the conservation of precious resources. The U.S. Department of Labor projects that the employment environmental scientists and specialists will grow 15% from 2012-2022, faster than the average for all occupations. Companies, governments and nonprofit organizations are challenged with developing strategies, policies and approaches to solve environmental issues and reduce environmental impact, and need a well-educated workforce with training in both science and policy.
