Economics is a way of thinking, a science of making choices. Economists study how people, acting as individuals or in groups, decide to use scarce resources to satisfy their wants.
As an economic education major, you will study how scarce resources affect the ways markets determine what is produced, how it is produced and for whom. You will explore subjects like international trade, money and banking, unemployment and inflation, market structures and public policy issues.
Economic education majors take 30 credits of economics, related coursework in geography, history and political science, plus professional courses in education culminating with a student teaching experience. The program will inspire you as a future economic educator to teach passionately and knowledgeably, so that high school graduates are prepared for their adult roles as workers, consumers, investors, voters and citizens in a world economy.
