The non-thesis Master of Science Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Exercise Physiology (MS CPD), is a coordinated program (didactic coursework and clinical rotations are conducted simultaneously) in dietetics with an exercise emphasis. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), the accrediting agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
The MS CPD prepares students for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) exam administered through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The program focuses on the effects of nutrition and exercise on human health. The interdisciplinary approach allows students to focus on dietetics and develop a solid grounding in principles of exercise physiology, exercise testing, and exercise prescription.
The degree generally requires four semesters, and potentially one summer of 8-11 credits. Students complete a minimum of 41 graduate-level credits. Twenty-one credits are supervised practice rotations in clinical, foodservice management, and community settings. The rotation sites include hospitals, schools, early childhood facilities, assisted living homes, and community organizations.
For those students who do not enter the MS CPD with practical hours in exercise, they will also complete a 400-hour exercise internship.

The program will prepare graduates to be credentialed entry-level dietitians. The program will prepare CP graduates to test for ACSM Exercise Specialist. The program will prepare graduates to demonstrate a commitment to positively contribute to the health of individuals and communities through active participation and/or leadership in community/public service.
Career Opportunities:
Most Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) work at hospitals and medical centers, private practice or other healthcare facilities. Many work in community and public health settings, academia, and research. Others work in the food and nutrition industry, business, journalism, sports nutrition, corporate wellness programs, and other nontraditional settings.
