The major in public relations focuses on developing the knowledge and skills required to foster beneficial relationships with key stakeholders and build and maintain a positive public image for a company or person.
Practical experience and internships are built into the program.
You’ll study the principles and practical applications of writing, market research, creative strategy, long-term relationship building, and management —and you’ll put them straight into practice by preparing media plans and strategy, writing copy, and helping plan and execute complete campaigns for the University’s TV, radio, and multimedia authoring properties.
When you graduate, you’ll have true professional experience and plenty of real-world practice to build on.
The major is built on core courses like these:
Principles of Public Relations Media Strategies and Techniques for PR PR Management and Campaigns
The major also includes four elective courses of your choice. This gives you room to customize the major to your own strengths and goals.

Careers in public relations could include media relations manager, corporate communication, public relations representative/specialist, lobbyist, investor relations, account executive, development officer, university relations, public affairs/information officer, and hospital relations.

(We may consider the first year or two of university in some countries to be secondary level). Schooling should include preparation in humanities, mathematics, basic sciences, and social sciences. WSU requires a minimum grade point average of 2.70 (on a 4.00 scale) for admission as an international freshman. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - Minimum Score 213 computer-based (CBT); 79 internet-based (iBT); 550 paper-based (PBT); IELTS – 6.5; MELAB – 77.
