OVERVIEW
Our online multi-professional course is for qualified doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, physicians/associates, pharmacists and advanced clinical practitioners, working in emergency care.
It gives you the opportunity to gain academic recognition for your professional training in urgent or emergency care.
Designed entirely by physicians, paramedics and nurses working in emergency care, all teaching on MSc Emergency Medicine takes place online using a virtual hospital to enable problem-based learning.
Our teaching team is made up of internationally renowned emergency medicine consultants, including Professor Kevin Mackway-Jones (developer of the learning resource BestBETs) and Professor Simon Carley (developer of the St.Emlyn's blog), consultants at two of the biggest and busiest hospitals in the UK (the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital).
This course is taught entirely online to help you fit studying around your shifts. You’ll access unit resources, which include weekly case studies and participate in online discussions with fellow students and your unit leader.
We offer a range of core and optional units, depending on the route you take, and these are available on a two-year rolling programme. Through these option units, you can focus on areas that fit with your career aspirations.
We offer three awards (postgraduate diploma, postgraduate certificate, and masters) for this course. To gain MSc Emergency Medicine, you’ll need to complete 180 credits at Level 7 but you can exit this course with an interim award.
CAREER PROSPECTS
As a graduate, you’ll have a masters degree that recognises your professional training in emergency or urgent care.
