Introduction
The linguistics major is designed to acquaint students with the central aspects of linguistic structure and the methodologies and perspectives of the field.
Careers: Language engineering; Information processing: computer science and computer technology, information sciences, library science; Speech technology: speech synthesis and speech recognition; Advanced study in linguistics or in related fields ; (such as experimental psychology or language or child development); Education: educational research, bilingual education; Teaching: English, English as a second language, other languages; Speech pathology; Law.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be considered for admission to UC Santa Cruz, international students must be on track to complete secondary school with superior grades/marks in academic subjects and to earn a certificate of completion that enables the student to be admitted to a university in their home country. Other English Language Requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test.
