專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么？
The main aims of the course are:
- to give students exposure to the breadth of translational research and develop an area of research interest
- to generate a hypothesis and apply contemporary research tools to answer important clinical research questions
- to inspire students to become the next generation of future leaders in translational research
Learning Outcomes
The main objective is to provide an introduction to, and training in, a methodology for graduates pursuing a career in biomedical research. The course is specifically aimed at students who wish to apply basic science to medical practice. By the end of the programme students will have:
- learned how to conduct and interpret translational research
- developed an understanding of statistics
- developed a strong foundation in the fundamental skills and techniques of research into experimental medicine
- learned how to adapt to the changing research environment
- acquired practical experience of the application of research theory and teaching
- developed the ability to be competitive in seeking support for clinical research
Assessment
Thesis
A thesis not exceeding 20,000 words in length, including footnotes but excluding tables, appendices, and bibliography, on a subject approved by the degree committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, will be required.
Written examination
Students will complete two written assessments:
- Critical Appraisal paper – students to review a published research paper, selected from a list provided by the course, and provide a 1000-word report.
- Project Outline paper – students to complete a written report of up to 1500 words, excluding references, on a project selected from a list provided by the course. An oral examination will also be held.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) grade of between 85% and 90%. If the academic requirement of the course is a first then they need to have an overall grade of between 90% and 95%.
