Exercise science is the scientific study of how human movement influences health, fitness, performance and disease prevention. Nutrition science explores the complex relationship between the body, nutrients and health. Our department combines these disciplines to offer a broad understanding of the human body, including physiological, biomechanical and nutritional factors.

Thesis and Comprehensive Exam Options
Choose from two options:
With the thesis option, you’ll conduct an independent research study and defend it with a thesis. Select this option if you want to gain research experience or if you plan to continue your graduate education after completing your master’s degree.
With the comprehensive exam option, you’ll participate in a research program and a practicum. Select this option if you plan to conclude your graduate study with the completion of your master’s degree, or to continue in a professional degree program such as medicine, physical therapy or chiropractic.
The applied physiology specialization within our master’s program provides you opportunities for research in advanced exercise physiology and nutrition. You’ll learn to critically evaluate research literature and to enhance problem solving, research and laboratory skills. This focused area of study may be appropriate if your undergraduate work was in disciplines such as physical therapy, exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition, biology or physical education.
Research opportunities are available in pulmonary, muscle or circulatory physiology and exercise nutrition. Many students have contributed to our field’s body of knowledge by publishing the results of their work in refereed journals.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
