Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest of the engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers are involved in research and development, design, manufacturing, and technical sales of a variety of products. Degree programs offered include the Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Contact the department for specific areas of research.
For Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering the overall credit requirement is a minimum of 30 semester credit hours. Three options exist in each program which are detailed below. Students receiving financial support (TA, RA or GA) through the department are required to do the Thesis option, except if they enter the PhD program by passing the PhD qualifying exam and do a dissertation.
The Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering Master of Science program has no core course requirements. However, at least 50% of the student's program must be MAE courses. A detailed list of classes offered in each research area is presented in Appendix. Students in all areas may also benefit by taking an applied mathematics course (e.g. MAE 507).

為來自中國的學生設(shè)計 Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
